The Old Man Emu BP-51 Suspension Kit is configured around a 3-inch front lift and 2-inch rear lift, with different load capacities assigned to each axle. The front suspension accommodates 0–330 pounds of added weight, while the rear is rated for 440 pounds, creating a setup intended for vehicles with additional equipment distributed across the chassis.

The front and rear suspension match their respective load requirements. A 0–330-pound front rating accommodates front-end equipment, while the 440-pound rear rating provides support for moderate rear cargo and accessories.

The BP-51 varies damping according to piston position. As the piston travels, fluid moves through the piston while additional fluid follows bypass passages, producing different damping at different points in the suspension stroke.

The remote reservoirs increase oil capacity within the damping system and provide additional capacity for managing heat during extended operation. This supports the BP-51's damping system during sustained suspension cycling.

BP-51 adjustment controls are designed to be accessible while installed. Compression and rebound can be changed independently while the suspension is on the vehicle, allowing the setup to be refined without removing the shocks.
